The largest of the CURRENT Series fly reels, the "9-10" is made for saltwater fishing and the heavy fly lines necessary to buck the wind as well as punch out long casts with big flies. It has a lot of room for backing which is important for saltwater species like stripers, cobia, small tarpon and salmon. The large arbor design helps you recover line quickly and provides capacity for a lot of backing. The reel's backing capacity is based on standard dacron (9WF plus 250 yards 30#, 10WF plus 200 yards 30#), used with Power Pro "super braid," you can usually get an additional 50% more backing on each spool and in the case of saltwater fishing, especially for small tuna or billfish, that can be a huge advantage.
This is a beautifully appointed, double anodized series of large arbor fly reel with lots of positive features that not only make it a great looking reel, but functional as well. The Current features a sealed drag system to keep all the important parts dry and avoid corrosion. The double anodization gives it a unique look that will please even the most discriminating angler. The drag is very powerful, yet subtle. It can be adjusted from the most minimal setting to "stop a truck" mode. Changing spools is as easy as pushing a button and should you need to change the retrieve from right-hand to left-hand, all you have to do is remove a simple clip on the spindle, remove the "one way" bearing clutch, turn it over and reassemble. A unique and positive system, it comes as a single reel with a vented neoprene reel cover that you can use right on the rod. Spare spools are available.
