Trout Opener Special Event & Tailgate Talk

It's Spring Cleaning time! This is how it works: you give us your reels and we clean them -- and the fly line -- for free. Along with cleaning them, we'll condition your lines and check your knots. After all, we don't want you stepping out on the river only to discover that your line is full of dings and you're slapping the water like soap on a rope.

And to add to this event, since trout fishing opening day is just around the corner, Victor and Bill will hold a Trout Fishing Tailgate Talk, good for both newbies and old hands alike. Topics they will cover:

• Where to go (waters near and far)
• Gear necessities
• Fishing techniques & insider tips
• Strategies for the opener

This event will definitely get you ready for trout season (opening day: April 28th).

January is prime time for Pyramid Lake, a high desert mountain lake that's 45 minutes north of Reno, NV. Lahontan Cutthroat trout here average 4-6 pounds with 10 pounders caught regularly. California Fly Shop Pro Staff Victor Inouye and Bill Scharninghausen will be preparing you for the Pyramid Lake Buddyfish on January 28th and 29th. Come learn about Pyramid Lake, Lahontan Cutthroats, and how to catch these big native fish with a fly rod!

There haven't been this many tying talents under one roof since the good old days of Sportsman's International in San Mateo. Captain Doran will tie his famous Delta surface flies and Dave McCants will tie his gorgeous steelhead and salmon patterns. There won't be a better time to see such a diverse and talented line up!
